Anna Hoffman (nee: Fedor), 90 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Thursday, August 27, 2020 after a long and blessed life.
Anna was born on June 24, 1930 in Oakdale, Pennsylvania to John and Mary (Patskan) Fedor. After high school she worked at the shirt factory of Hazleton, PA. In 1953, she married Walter Hoffman and they had one daughter, Barbara. They moved their family to Pittsburgh, PA in 1960, to Lorain, OH, in 1962, and in 1970 they settled in Amherst.
Anna, affectionately known as Dottie to family, worked at the Hills Department Store for 25 years and retired in 1988. After retirement, she spent her time enjoying family and friends, most especially, time with her granddaughter. When she had two great grandchildren, she enjoyed trips to Columbus to hold her “angels” and spend time with them. She also enjoyed trips to Pennsylvania to spend time with her relatives. Family meant the world to her.
Anna loved to cook and bake from scratch and to share the foods with others. She drove her friends to places until she could no longer drive. She loved chatting with everyone she met and she never met a stranger.
Anna was a member of St. Joseph Church, Amherst. She spent the last year and a half at the Amherst Manor Skilled Nursing Facility, initially in the Assisted Living section. The family is grateful for the care provided to her there and to the Sprenger Hospice for the care received since March.
She was predeceased by her parents; two brothers, John Fedor and George Fedor; niece Mary Ann (Fedor) Dittus and son-in-law, Stan Jozwiak.
Anna is survived by her daughter, Barbara Jozwiak of Amherst; her granddaughter, Jen (Fred) Merkich of Columbus; two great grandchildren, Nick and Audrey Merkich; two nephews, John Fedor and George Fedor; and niece, Tracey Fedor, all of Pennsylvania.
Services will be held privately by the family. The Reverend Fr. Timothy O’Connor, pastor of St. Joseph Church will officiate. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Joseph Church, Amherst.
