Adolph “Al” S. Kelling, 92 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Saturday, September 16, 2023 at his home, following a full and meaningful life.
He was born September 26, 1930 in Sheffield, Ohio. Al was raised in Lorain, where he attended Lorain High School. He had made his home in Amherst Township for the last seventy years.
Al was employed as a tool and Die Maker at Fastway for twelve years and was also employed at Advance Die & Tool in Cleveland for twenty-six years before retiring. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst. Al loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved fishing locally and in Canada with his entire family over the years.
Survivors include his loving wife of seventy-three years, Wanda Mae Kelling (nee: Jaycox), his children, Cheryl (Sherry) Trigalet of Medina, Richard Kelling (Shelli) of Copley, James Kelling of Northfield, and Sandra Wells of Amherst; his grandchildren, Brian Trigalet, Kevin Trigalet, Justin (Jordan) Trigalet, Rebecca (Edward) Dalton, Tyler (Megan) Kelling, Garrett (Rhema) Kelling, Chad Hornak, Alison (Chris) Church, Nathan (Jaime) Kelling, Marie Kelling; ten great grandchildren; and his brother Chester “Chet” Kelling of Lorain.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Alfred Kelling, Loretta Davidson, Adella Bring, Wilbur Kelling, Coletta Rogala, Gladys Kopronica; his grandson Seth Kelling; son in law Harry Trigalet; and his parents, Conrad and Josephine Kelling (nee: Bring).
Friends may call Wednesday, September 20, 2023, from 4-7 p.m., a recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 3:30 at the Hempel Funeral Home, Amherst. Closing prayers will be held on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at 10:30 a.m.at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 200 St. Joseph Drive, Amherst. The Rev. Fr. Timothy O’Connor, will officiate. Rebroadcasting of services will be available at www.hempelfuneralhome.com . Burial will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst.
