Robert ‘Bob’ Schuka, 74 years of age, and a resident of Lorain, passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at Mercy Regional Medical Center.
Bob was born November 29, 1949, in Washington, PA, and moved to the Lorain area in 1963. Bob graduated from Lorain High School.
Bob was employed as a steelworker and retired after 40 years of faithful service. He proudly served his country in the US Army with the 101st Airborne during the Vietnam War and received a Purple Heart. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Lorain. In his spare time, he loved to go golfing or fishing, and often enjoyed woodworking. By far his greatest joy came in spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Irma Schuka (nee: Reyes); his children, Jeff Schuka (Kyung-Hee) of Fairfield, Jim (Leslie) Schuka of Michigan, Jennifer (Chris) Cseh of Bay Village; six grandchildren, Wyatt, Ellie, Josh, Justin, Ethan, Emmett; and his brother Nick (Haydee) Schuka of Lorain.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Nick and Margaret Schuka, (nee: Kovachik).
Friends may call Wednesday, April 24, 2024, from 4 until time of services at 6 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home, Amherst. A private family burial with military honors will follow at a later date.
