James Harold Babb, 73 years of age, and a resident of Vermilion, passed away Saturday, April 6, 2024, at O’Neill Healthcare North Ridgeville.
Jim was born August 25, 1950 in Coeburn, VA, where he was raised before moving to Ohio. He had made his home in Vermilion since 2019.
Jim retired from Aramark Vending Machine as a mechanic after 27 years. He attended North Lake Missionary Baptist Church. He enjoyed music and was accomplished in playing the guitar in all its various forms such as the steel, acoustic, and electric bass. He loved to joke and kid around and treat people to his rendition of a family patriarch from deep in the hills of Virginia. He found his greatest joy in spending time with his family laughing and making memories.
Those he leaves behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 18 years, Linda Lee Conrady Babb (nee: Nichols); his step children, Timothy (Lori) Conrady of North Carolina, Clay (Rachelle) Conrady of Vermilion, Bryan (Tisha) of Lagrange; fourteen step grand and great grandchildren combined; and his brother David (Brenda) Babb of Bellevue.
Jim was preceded in death by his first wife, Joretta Babb (nee: McDaniel); and his parents, John and Wilma Babb (nee: Holbrook)
Friends may call Wednesday, April 10, 2024 from 11 am until the time of the service at 1 pm at North Lake Missionary Baptist Church, 323 N Lake St., South Amherst. The Rev. Jayson Samons, pastor of North Lake Missionary Baptist Church will officiate. Rebroadcasting of services will be available at www.hempelfuneralhome.com. Burial will follow at Crownhill Cemetery, Amherst, Ohio.
