Jean Louise Palmer (nee: Rider), 86 years of age, and a resident of New Russia Township, passed away Monday, April 16, 2018, at New Life Hospice Residential Center in Lorain.
She was born June 11, 1931, in Wellington, Ohio. Jean had made her home in the Oberlin and New Russia Township area for sixty years.
Jean was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church in Oberlin. She, along with her husband Dean, owned and operated the Vita-Ful Orchards in Oberlin for twenty years. She volunteered her time at New Life Hospice, and the Oberlin Hospital. Jean enjoyed cooking for others, and traveling. Her greatest joy was her family, and the time she spent with them.
Survivors include her son Donald Palmer (Nadine) of Powell, Ohio; her daughter Susan Walker (Bob Scherry) of Elyria; her grandchildren Nicolle, Kelly, Jennifer, Alison, Ashley, Brett, Irina, Jessica and Cache; her great grandchildren Justin, Melani, Kayla, Christopher, David, Jeffrey, Blake, Briana, Arianna and Alexander; her three great great grandchildren Marlie, Madison and Charles; and her sister Verla Rider of Oberlin.
She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-seven years Dean E. Palmer, on June 5, 2017; her son Charles Palmer in 2013; her sisters Olive Berner and Marjorie Kehl; and her parents Charles "Bud" and Eva Rider (nee: Sheldon).
Friends may call Saturday, April 21, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church; 310 West Lorain Street, Oberlin. The Rev. Joshua Moldenhauer, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow at New Russia Township Cemetery, Oberlin.
