Rev. Beverly Corine Bammel, 68 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2018, at her home following a brief illness.
Beverly was born September 29, 1949, in Houston, Texas and raised in Cypress, TX where she spent most of her life before moving to Amherst two years ago.
Recently, Beverly served as pastor of St. Peter United Church of Christ in Amherst. Prior to that, she worked in executive sales in IT for Sterling Commerce division of IBM. She was active in church work all her life as a volunteer. Music and theater were her passions. She loved singing and was active as a cantor in the church.
Survivors include her brother Gene (Ani) Bammel of Palestine, Texas; her sister Connie Davis, of Cypress, Texas; her step daughter Teri (Chris) Hermann of Cincinnati; her step sons Bruce Neal, Jr. of Columbus, and Gregory M. Neal of Houston, TX; grandchildren Amy, Lauren, Alexandra, Emily, Dylan, Tonya, Greg Jr., Madison, and Mallory; and great grandchildren Amelia, Ava, Skylynn, Braelynn, Hendrix, Isabella, and Gregory III.
Beverly was preceded in death by her parents Opal Bammel (Nee Williams) and Melvin Bammall and step father Kenneth Thomas.
Friends may gather for a memorial service on Saturday, July 28, 2018, at 11 a.m. at St. Peter United Church of Christ, 582 Church St., Amherst OH. The Rev. Brian Burke will officiate.
