Edward Hamrick, 73 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain following a five year battle with cancer.
He was born January 29, 1939 in Webster Springs, West Virginia. Edward had made his home in Amherst for the majority of his life and attended Central High School in Amherst.
Edward proudly served in the United States Army. He was employed as an operater at BF Goodrich for many years before retiring in 1999. Edward shared his love for woodworking with his son and building everything from furniture to barns. He loved restoring classic cars and attending car shows. In his spare time, Edward enjoyed fishing.
Survivors included his son Eddie Hamrick of Lorain; daughters Laura (Paul) Giambra of Fredericksburg, Virginia; Linda Thomas of Lorain, and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-one years Mary Lu Hamrick (nee: Smith) on September 17, 2012; his sister Edna Rigsby Bragg; and his parents Pat and Madge Hamrick (nee: Cogar).
Friends may call Friday, November 9, 2012, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. Military honors will be provided by the Amherst Veterans Military Honor Guard. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain, Ohio.
