Rex Allen Mears

Rex Allen Mears, 52 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Tuesday, October 30, 2012, at New Life Hospice Residential Center in Lorain following a year long illness.

He was born September 24, 1960 in Lorain, Ohio. Rex was raised in Lorain, graduating from Admiral King High School in the class of 1979. He lived most of his life in Lorain before moving to Amherst where he had resided for the last thirteen years.

Rex was employed at Ford Motor Company in Lorain and Avon for seventeen years before retiring in 2012. He was a member of the Vermilion Masonic Ely Lodge #424. Rex loved collecting Watches and Clocks and was a member of the NAWCC.

Survivors include his wife of 13 ½ Kimberly S. Mears (nee: Daniels); his stepson Andy Wagner stepdaughter Heather Wagner both of Fremont, Ohio; six grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents EJ and Ella Mears (nee: Eggert) and by his brother Harce Layne.

Friends may call Thursday Nov. 8, 2012, from 2-4 p.m. A Masonic Service will be held on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst, Ohio with additional viewing from 6:15 until the time of the memorial service at 8:00 p.m at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Alzheimer's Association; Cleveland Area Chapter, P.O. Box 74924, Cleveland, OH 44194-4924.
