Harold L. Opheim

U.S. Veteran

Harold L. Opheim, 79 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Saturday, July 14, 2012, at New Life Hospice Residence Center of Lorain.

Harold was born June 17, 1933, in Madison, Wisconsin where he was raised, graduating with the class of 1951 from Central High School. Amherst has been his home for 41 years.

He worked for 24 years as the manager of Old English Parlor in Avon Lake from 1971 - 1995. Harold served in the United States Army and was a member of the Vermilion AMVETS and the Amherst American Legion. His primary love was that of family followed by fishing and hunting.

Surviving are his wife of fifty-two years Sandra Jean (nee: Young); his sons and their wives Scott and Emily Opheim of Vermilion, Kevin Opheim of Strongsville, and Brian and Gina Opheim of Olmsted Falls; eight grandchildren, and one great grandchild; his sisters Lois Pavlue of Stoughton, Wisconsin, and Genevieve and Paul Gray of Amherst.

Harold was preceded in death by his son Paul Opheim in 1980, his brother Sanford Opheim, his sisters Martha, Goodrun, and Ruth; and his parents Selmer and Gertrude Opheim (nee: Fenne).

Services were held privately by the family.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to New Life Hospice, 5225 N Abbe Rd., Elyria OH 44035
