Eleanor Lillian Wearsch

Eleanor Lillian Wearsch (nee: Yerico), 92 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at Amherst Manor Nursing Home following a brief illness.

She was born August 23, 1919 in Lorain, Ohio. Eleanor was raised in Lorain and graduated from Lorain High in the class of 1938. She had made her home in Amherst for the last fifty-seven years.

Her primary focus in life was that of being a homemaker. Eleanor was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst. She was a member of the St. Joseph Golden Agers group and the Benefactors Society. Eleanor enjoyed wintering in Florida with her late husband Earl. Her hobbies included knitting and crocheting.

Survivors include her sons and their wives Charles and Lynda Wearsch of Amherst, Earl and Connie Wearsch of Louisville, KY; grandchildren, Eric, Catey and Greg Wearsch, Allison Powers, Sam and Ted Aguayo, Natalie Zappolski and Cheryl Wszeborowski; sixteen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of forty-two years Earl Louis Wearsch on June 30, 1983; brothers Chuck and Tony as well as by sisters, Josephine Cambarare, Louis Stanziano and Nina Stanziano; parents Joseph and Clara Yerico (nee: Allessi).

Friends may call Thursday, May 31, 2012, from 4 - 8 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Closing Prayers will be held Friday at 9:30 a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:00 a.m. from St. Joseph Catholic Church; 200 St. Joseph Drive, Amherst. The Rev. Fr. Michael Denk, associate pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 200 St. Joseph Dr., Amherst, Ohio 44001.
